Today is a great day to thank all the service men and women risking their lives fighting for our freedom and to remember those who have died for us to be able to live in this free country. I think we often forget there are men and women putting their lives in danger everday so you and I can enjoy our freedoms.
I don't think I have really thanked my Grandpa for his service during WWII. He is an amazing man who fought for our country during a time of need and is rarely thanked for his service. There aren't many men like him left in our country which is a shame. Thank you Grandpa for the person you are and the lessons and values you have taught me through your great example. You are a true patriot!!
Thank you to my wonderful husband for your service! You are a great example to me and those around you. Thank you and I love you!

A few highlights

Here are a few highlights from Tom and I's last minute trip to Paris. It was amazing. I'll have more pictures later.

From the 2nd floor of the Effiel Tower. The top was full and closed so we couldn't get to the very top. Maybe next time right?We tried to reenacted The Divinci Code. Good times.

My summer vacation

For my birthday and our anniversary Tom and I went to Charleston, SC. I loved it there!

I want to live in this house, it's small and it's pink. Tom said he wouldn't be able to live there and have friends over. Can you imagine Tom saying "Yes come over, I live in the small pink house."

We thought we were hot wearing shorts and t-shirts. The heat index that day was 105. This man was roasting I'm sure in his seersucker suit. We happened to be there during Carolina Days and there was a little mini parade.

We were also there for the Tall Ship festival. There were a bunch of sailboat there you could tour.

The following weekend we went to Atlanta for the 4th. Here's Tom and getting ready for the 10K with 55,ooo of our friends. Tom came in 8,1?? and I finished 15 minutes after him at 21,???.

After running 6.2 miles what better to eat than a good ole slaw or chili dog from the infamous Varsity. I love that place.

Home Improvements

Last summer cute cousin Kyle lived with us. When he left he gave us this. It only took us a year to hang it. Thanks Kyle!

Also a year ago I bought these plates, a few months ago I finally hung them.

Hopefully our family room will be painted soon. I feel like our wall is a paint by numbers wall right now. It's been like that for a year. Notice a trend?

The world of grown-ups

For 2 years our house has looked like this (the neighbors loved us) no grass due to drought

One day I came home from work and found this.. (turkey poop, it smells divine)

And now I have this!!! Complete with porch swing, porch chair and hanging flower baskets.

And now Tom has to do this...poor guy!

Princesses

Yes, we have now all earned the title of Princess. If you have questions or forget our running bib's say so. This past weekend we, Lori, Amanda Call, Amanda Fellingham, Kim, Michele (friend), Annie, Sarah (Annie's sister) and myself and decided to run the first ever Disney Princess Half Marathon. It was a blast. If you want proof just watch us walk and if that's not enough check out the blisters on our feet. First we decided to dress up in tutus and tieras, so did everyone else. I'm sure from the sky it looked like a sea of pink tutus floating down the street. We started the run at Epcot, ran over to Magic Kingdom and through the castle and then back to Epcot. Apparently the Disney Princesses were scattered throughout the race but I don't remember them. I vaguely remember people stopping to take pictures. Anyway the boys were there to met us at the end.
Later that night they had a Happily Ever After party at Hollywood Studios, formally known as MGM from 7-12 just for runners and friends. They had the Tower of Terror, Rockin Roller Coaster and Toy Story open the entire night. We literally walked onto each ride, that's the way to do Disney. update

....many questions have been asked about the cinnamon. Let me give you a brief rundown of what happened that was not shown on the video. Unfortunately Tom got the cinnamon in his nose as evidenced by the cloud. Our dear friend Ali Pulley, whose kitchen sink will never be the same, had a baby 6 months ago. Lucky for Tom, the hospital gave her a snot sucker . Ali, quick on her feet ran to the first aid kit to retrieve the snot sucker AKA party bulb. Water was squirted up the nose and out flowed chunks and brown water. YUMMY! Repeated 4-5 times. Lots of coughing, spitting you name it anything to get the cinnamon out. Ladies I know you are all jealous but back off he's mine.
I wonder if the Pulley's will ever invite us over again?

Buy us some books,

send us to school and this is what you get. Supposedly it's impossible to swallow 1 tbs of cinnamon. After watching several others on youtube try and might I add, fail, Danny and Tom thought it was neccessary to see for themselves

The day is set

I will be getting the surgery March 23rd. Hopefully everything will go ok.

I've alway wanted HD vision

Yesterday I spent almost 3 hours at the eye doctor.  Anyone who knows me well, knows I HATE the eye dr.  I would much rather spend 3 hours relaxing at the dentist with the gritty feeling in your mouth.  Oh I love the gritty feeling, I feel my teeth are cleaner.  I always hate to eat after I've been to the dentist, I don't like to lose the clean teeth feeling.  I would go to the dentist everyday if I could.  Oh Uncle Bill why don't you live closer!!!!

Anyway, that is not the point of this post.  The point is, the 3 hours I spent at the eye dr were to determine if I could have LASIK or not.  They did about every test on me, I talked with the dr, their counselor and everything.   They did a dry eye test, they like to see a 10 on the litmus paper I was barely at a 1, needless to say all the pinpricks I have felt in my eyes the past few years was due to dry eyes.  Go figure.

Alright back to the HD.  I am not a good candidate for LASIK due to the dry eyes and thin cornea, my prescription is too bad.  They have a new surgery out, it's only been available in the US since 2003 but it has been in Europe since 1995 (should that make me feel better, I don't think so).  The dr. is the only one in the Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill area who performs the surgery.   What surgery is this..................  Implantable Collamer Lens or ICL or known as Implantable Contact lens.   Here is a link to it www.kellyeyecenter.com  you can actually watch one of the surgeries being performed.  You can also watch one done on the Today show but I can't figure out how to get the link here.  If you google ICL on Today Show it will pull on on youtube.   

My question to all those out there, does anyone know anyone who has had this done or themselves have had this done?  Your comments would be greatly appreciated.
